14 Saturdays Until Christmas: A Survival Guide for Parents

Christmas Shopping Survival Guide: 14 Saturdays and Counting

Look, we do not want to alarm you, but there are only 14 Saturdays left until Christmas. Yep. Sorry about that.

We know exactly what it is like. The kids have a wish list longer than the eye roll you give your boss. Sure, they probably will not get everything on it, but at least it gives you somewhere to start.

Now you are picturing it. Remembering what it is like every single year.

Why Christmas Shopping With Kids Is Its Own Kind of Chaos

For whatever reason, every unhinged shopper who is somehow never at the shops any other time of year suddenly appears every time you are at Westfield. People are throwing elbows and shatterproof baubles around in Kmart like it is a contact sport.

Suddenly nobody remembers how to drive, giving way becomes more of a polite suggestion than a rule, and people without prams are parking in the pram spot.

Mall Santa looks like he has spent the night in a gutter, and his team wants roughly $798, seven oxen, a bridge troll and the blood of a unicorn in exchange for one measly photo print. The queue moves at about 68 kilometres an hour and you are fairly sure everyone in it has lice.

Shopping While Trying to Hide the Shopping

On top of all that, your husband is working overtime through the silly season, and nobody is offering to babysit after last year's incident. So you are stuck fighting the crowds with the kids in tow, while also trying to secretly shop for them at the same time.

"What? These? No, they are not for you. I know it is strange that these are the exact items on your list, but they are definitely not for you. Santa brings your presents, obviously. These are for Daddy. He has really had his eye on a skull skateboard and a Barbie helmet, not to mention a colour changing LOL doll."

The Real Cost: A House Full of Plastic Junk

Then comes the worst part. After the whole ordeal is over, you are left with a house full of plastic, toxic junk. The kids spend roughly 7.543 seconds playing with their new toys before they are abandoned, collecting dust and cockroach eggs, destined for the charity shop or the tip within a few months.

A Better Way to Shop for Christmas

Instead of dodging elbows at Big W to buy harmful, low quality junk, you can buy now and wrap later with No Nasties Kids and our huge range of fabulous, non toxic gifts.

No parking space required. No queueing for a photo with a questionable Santa. Just safe, natural gifts kids will actually enjoy, delivered straight to your door.
