Getting a skincare routine to stick with kids has less to do with the products and more to do with how you introduce it. Here is what has actually worked for families we talk to.
Keep it to three steps or fewer. Cleanse, moisturise, and sunscreen during the day covers almost everything a child's skin needs. Adding more steps than that usually means the routine falls apart within a week, for both kids and honestly a lot of adults too.
Let them choose something. Picking their own flannel, a scented but gentle cleanser, or which order to do their steps in gives kids a sense of ownership, and that small bit of control makes a routine far more likely to continue.
Tie it to something they already do. Brushing teeth is the easiest anchor, since most kids already have that habit locked in morning and night. Adding skincare either side of it builds the routine into something already automatic.
Talk about why, briefly. Kids do not need a lecture on ingredients, but a short, honest explanation, sunscreen stops sunburn, moisturiser stops itchy skin, helps the habit make sense rather than feeling like an arbitrary rule.
Expect some resistance early on, and do not overreact to it. A skipped night here and there will not undo the habit, consistency over weeks matters far more than perfection every single day.
If you are looking for gentle products to build this routine around, our skincare range was formulated specifically for kids' skin, without any of the nasties found in products borrowed from adult ranges.
To put this routine together, our Tween Balancing Cleanser and Moisturiser Pack covers the first two steps in one go.
